Program

View the full conference program for QISS 2022

The main days of the conference are the three central days (June 7 – 9). These are organized into short lightning talks with ample time for discussions & comparing perspectives. The first day (June 6) there will be mini-courses, introducing the different themes of the conference for the benefit of early-career researchers and to facilitate interdisciplinary discussion. The last day (June 10) is devoted to social activities, networking & group discussions.

Welcome Reception

Join us for the opening reception at The Wave, a restaurant & bar located in the Western University Campus Centre (UCC).

Tour of Cronyn Observatory

Join us for a special private tour of The Hume Cronyn Memorial Observatory at Western University. There'll be a brief lecture on the history of the observatory & astonomy at Western, a tour of astronomical demos and historical rooms, and, of course, stargazing!

From Quantum in Pictures to Speech, Space, and Music

Abstract: This talk requires no mathematics background, as I will talk entirely in terms of simple pictures.  These are the pictures of my forthcoming book, “Quantum in Pictures”, which is aimed at the teenage enthusiast, and pretty much everyone else too.  We go through a bit of history of how...

Day 5 Group Discussions & Trip to Pinery Provincial Park

Join conference organizers on a day trip to the Pinery -- a scenic provincial park located on the shore of Lake Huron. Located approximately 65 km from Western University, attendees will travel via chartered bus and be provided with a picnic lunch. Free time can be spent at the beach, swimming, hiking, or renting kayaks or canoes (rentals will not be paid for).
