Biography

My research interests are mainly in the philosophy of science and in the history of philosophy of science. I’m particularly interested in issues having to do with the relation between physics and computation. With Michael Janas and Michel Janssen, I am the co-author of Understanding Quantum Raffles: Quantum Mechanics on an Informational Approach — Structure and Interpretation. I’m the co-editor, with Sam Fletcher, of the edited volume, Physical Perspectives on Computation, Computational Perspectives on Physics, and the co-author, with Amit Hagar, of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry on Quantum Computation. Aside from this I have published on the topic of scientific explanation, on Kant, on Hobbes, on Frege, and in the areas of legal and political philosophy. I have published in The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Science, Studies in History and Philosophy of Modern Physics, History of Philosophy Quarterly, Politics Philosophy and Economics, and other journals.
